Sense is not so Common

I feel that intuition is discernment, and discernment is using your 6th sense, and the 6th sense is just plain old common sense. My reasoning for this, is that discernment is a gift from God and it isn’t given to everyone, just as common sense isn’t given to all either. As we need our senses to navigate the world we also need common sense to understand the world that we live in.

I heard a girl earlier using her worldly wisdom and she stood by it, loosely stating, that she felt that once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. My spirit immediately rejected what she was saying, and I even understood what she was trying to convey, but it still wasn’t noteworthy. I went back to reference the gospel in Matt. 6:13- “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” And 2 Corinthians 5:17(NIV)- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old one has gone, the new is here!”

Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. I’m not a religious person, but I do agree with certain things that is a correlation to what we experience today. To me, I see a great thing in helping people get over addictions, just like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) uses the scripture to help them to recover and not return, but to tell them that they will ‘always be an addict, is defeating the whole purpose in overcoming the addiction. I understand that they would need to take accountability for their pasts, but why constantly make them remember that accountability?

They are not the addiction, they are a human living in the experience, in whatever that looks like, since we all have one. I don’t believe that a season of my life will always haunt me, and that you can never live down. I am a witness. I used to be a smoker, but I overcame it, to the point that I’ve forgotten (delivered) about it. It was just a season of my past that I don’t even care to go back to. There are no desires to do it. When you’ve gotten that far from addictions, you are healed and delivered. But to tell me that I am the smoker and always will be one doesn’t even fit into the life that I live today.

The Most High God didn’t create me to be a slave to a vice, and not name me as one. My God has the power over me, and me over the addiction. Please remember that you are way more than that, and you were created to be more, and to do more for others. World wisdoms are not wise. It is time that we dismantle our old ways of thinking into a renewed frame of mind.
